Blending Board Rolags

Blending fiber on the blending board is lots of fun. You can use roving, recycled sari silk, locks and even odd bits of texture like feathers, threads, fabric and other miscellaneous items. It takes around 10 to 12 rolags to make a decent sized worsted weight hank after spinning. I've found that you can get two rolls off the board, but if you want skinnier rolls you could go for three.

2017 Shearing Back from the Mill

Thanks to Dave and Roxy at Mystic Water mini mill in Wisconsin for doing such a great job on our fuzz. The Angora Bunny/alpaca blends are soooo soft. I'm excited to get to work dying the alpaca sock yarn. Have been hand spinning the Sonny Bunny roving and it is like butter.

Mohair Fiber

Managed to get my greedy fingers on some really lovely mohair. Dyed a little washed a little. Left the beautiful silver as is. Was thinking that it might make for some great Santa projects for those crafty people who make dolls or felted art. Still have a pound of some light blonde to wash up. My favorite thing about mohair is how shiny it is after a wash or trip through the dye pot. Wish these had come with the names of the goats.
